New Fandom?

Legend of the Seeker. Does anybody knows it?
As far as I know it is a book series by Terry Goodkind and Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Xena,...) made it a series.
Sounds very interessting so far. So, what can you tell me about it? Don't say, that I have to read the books - guess what I just ordered ^_____^
